Woodside Energy Ltd is Australia's largest publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company with a market capitalisation of more than A$14 billion (at December 2004).

The company operates the North West Shelf Venture, Australia's largest resource project. It also operates more than 75 joint ventures on behalf of 39 participants in Australia, Africa and the United States.

The company sells liquefied natural gas, natural gas, crude oil, condensate and liquid petroleum gas around the world. With proven plus probable reserves of more than 1.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent, Woodside produces nearly 60 million barrels of oil equivalent a year. The company was formed in 1954 and has its headquarters in Perth, Western Australia. It has more than 2500 staff.

Woodside funds significant research projects at the Woodside Research Facility of Curtin University of Technology. During the development of CryoCell®, Woodside developed a new Dehydrator Technology. It operates on similar principles to the CryoCell® and was demonstrated in tandem at the Xyris plant site in the Perth basin.
