Cool Energy has taken the appropriate measures to ensure the company's intellectual property is satisfactorily protected.

A basic overview of the patents and intellectual property registered by Cool Energy includes the following:

  • Base cryogenic CO2 removal technology, patented by Core Laboratories Pty Ltd and Curtin University of Technology, was assigned to Cool Energy in February 2005.
  • Technical improvements carried out during Shell's involvement in technology development at Curtin University resulted in patent applications filed by Shell which were licensed to Cool Energy on a royalty free basis in June 2005.
  • Cool Energy filed a new patent in September 2005 covering a unique part of its process which was defined during the basis of design and subsequent engineering work.
  • In February 2007, Cool Energy filed two additional patent applications covering unique parts of its process, identified during the testing program.
